Bringing Buying Power to it's Members
The API recognized that Independent pharmacy owners need a buying advantage for cost-effect pharmaceuticals similar to the larger chain store. As a result, the API Buying group was launched in February of 2007 to address this need. The API now has a total membership of 340 Independent Pharmacies (and counting) in the Buying group and makes up the second largest concentration of stores in Ontario just behind Shopper’s Drug Mart. Our representation and size significantly adds to the importance of the API’s buying group and the impact we have in the pharmaceutical market.
The Buying Initiative
The API has partnered with several pharmaceutical companies to bring a buying advantage to its membership. This initiative is unique in that there is no fixed formulary that Independent Pharmacists have to follow. Member pharmacy are entitle, under the API program, to the following benefits:
- Free Personal Liability Insurance.
- Free London Drug Information Centre.
- No Membership Fee.
